Tough Year

1 min read
This has been a really hard year for me. I lost my father in July and I'm still not over it. Things have been pretty hard all around for my family and I. I also lost a gaming buddy, an aunt and family friend since then as well. I don't know what it is about this year but Death has felt prevalent, as if it's hanging around like a shadow.

All I know is I can't wait for the new year. I know it's cliche but I like to believe in fresh starts. Out with the old, in with the new. It makes me feel hopeful, that things will be better. I sincerely hope this is true, for myself as well as anyone else that has had a pretty hard year too.

Love you all.

Borderlands 2

1 min read
I have been playing a lot of Borderlands 2 lately on the pc. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun! Whether it's the witty and humorous dialogue or simply exploring and killing things, it blows me away. I've been playing it for a few weeks now and I'm not bored with it. I also have three different Maya characters. XD I don't do a lot of fanart but I find myself unable to resist doodling the characters in the game. Seriously best game ever.

Best. Game. Ever.

Faekats are a race of creatures that exist in my head, deep in a world called Faetasia. It is an island with a set of smaller, floating islands nestled above it. The islands are alive, ever changing and shifting based on the life around it. For example, you could go to bed one night and there be a lake and a large field across from your house and wake up the next morning to a mountain at the end of the clearing that wasn't there before! The island never shifts dangerously, never hurts.

The faekats themselves are all part feline to some extent, some more than others. While the original ones were part faery and cat, they've actually became the minority over the years. They have now grown to over 150 races, and we have felines mixed with all sorts of animals including cows, dolphins, bush babies, snakes, unicorns, dragons and more! If it exists, I can somehow fit it into a faekat.

It's no surprise to those that know me that I absolutely love zombies, horror and gore. The Walking Dead is my favorite comic book of all time and I keep up to date with all the current issues. I was really excited about the show but I found the end of season one (Project Wildfire arc) to be pretty disappointing. I was really looking forward to the second season though since I read that they'd be reaching Hershel's farm. I was so happy when Carl got shot because I knew that Rick would soon be running to the farm and that arc would officially start.

However, I'm upset at a few changes they made. The main one being that Shane is alive. I guess they really need someone to hate now that Merle is out of the picture and face it, it's easy to hate Shane. I do like that he's mentally unstable and it's causing a clash between him and Rick as I did enjoy that in the comic book.

I am also very disappointed at how the Sophia storyline ended. This is a character that survives the apocalypse for 2+ years in the comic book. She was never a main character but she was an integral part of Carl, Glenn and Maggie's lives. I'm really disappointed at that.  I felt they dragged on her disappearance too long, it was unnecessary. I was hoping that Sgt. Abraham Ford and his group would have found her but I'm pretty sure the sexy beast that is Abraham will not be in the show. I understand the emotional aspect of the Sophia storyline ending though. While it was sad when Amy died, she wasn't part of the show for long. Sophia was the first true character of the group to die and it gave the party the realization that there's really not much hope in the world. There's not going to be happy endings. Nothing hits you harder than losing a child too. This child zombie was completely different than the first one in the previous season. The little girl at the gas station was a stranger so it was exciting to watch her die. Sophia broke hearts. What an amazing actress that was though.

One thing I absolutely love about the show is the creation and addition of Daryl Dixon. He is amazing, I love him, redneck pride, yo! He is such a wonderful character and I get so excited whenever he's on the screen. It's no surprise to me that he's become a fan favorite. His character never had the love of a real family, or a good role model to follow. He's violent, temperamental and has absolutely no idea how to function in a true social group. He has no idea how to respond to positive opinion, compliments and feelings. He's so awkward that you want to hug him even though you know he'll probably just push you away and skulk off.

Andrea is my favorite character from the comic book though Michonne had that spot for quite some time. In the end, Andrea won me over because of how much she grew. Later Andrea is so different from earlier Andrea and Michonne kind of stayed the same. Both are bad ass females and it's great to see that in a comic book. In many ways, I think they outdo all of the males.  Andrea and Dale were one of my favorite couples and I'm excited to see how Andrea and Rick play out. I absolutely loathe the fact Andrea and Shane slept together in the show.

I always loved Dale in the comic book and I really love him in the show too. Glenn and Maggie are great, not to mention Carl as well. There's really so many amazing characters. I go back and forth between liking and disliking Rick. I think I like show Rick more than comic book Rick.

My least favorite characters are Shane (duh), Lori and Carol. Carol in show is more tolerable than Carol in the comic. I actually find the Carol/Daryl thing very sweet.

I guess it's inevitable when you see a tv show or movie based on a book you love. You can't help but analyze and nitpick it. I don't mean to sound ungrateful or overly critical because in the end, I'm really happy that there's a zombie show on tv and an amazing one at that. The makeup, the acting, it's top notch, better than you see in most movies. And it's just a fact that they usually change things greatly when adapted to the screen.

It could be worse. The Walking Dead could be like True Blood. That show is NOTHING like the Sookie Stackhouse novels.  I actually don't even know what the hell is happening anymore in it. As my daughter said (and she's ten years old), True Blood did not just jump the shark. It jumped the entire ocean. I couldn't have said it better myself.

On the up side, Game of Thrones is amazingly accurate. They changed a couple minor things but it's never been anything major. I hope they continue with the level of accuracy and awesomeness. It's also got a great cast. I was a fan of Peter Dinklage before the show but after seeing him as Tyrion, I'm an even bigger fan. I look forward to the addition of Jaqen H'ghar in season two. Arya, Tyrion, Daenerys and Jon Snow are my favorite characters both books and show.

Anyway, I rambled on enough. <3

It seems that pretty much all I draw anymore are faekats. The reason because of that is that it's my main hobby thanks to the B/C Pet Shop I run on Gaia Online. Any extra time I have is spent offline or in World of Warcraft. FOR THE HORDE!

I do custom faekat sketches for 10$ a pop usually unless it's a rarer race. I hate inking. Loathe it. I may do outside commissions other than faekats if they interest me but my time is limited. I fail at humans and whatnot. I fear faekats has broken me in that regard. I've been drawing faekats for over seven years now. Maybe one day I'll stop but that day is not today.

Hope everyone has been well.

Peace out.

P.S. Eric Northman is better than Bill Compton, Team Jacob is better than Team Edward, and Ben Foster is damn sexy.
